Alexander Terentyev, a State Duma deputy, Chairman of the party A JUST RUSSIA regional division in the Republic of Crimea made some comments on the tragic events that took place in the city of Odessa on May 02:

– The bloody and horrifying events in Odessa which claimed the lives of at least 46 people once again showed the Kiev authorities and their foreign sponsors in their true colors. Everything that took place in Odessa may be characterized only by one phrase: a cruel and ferocious fascist massacre. Moreover, it seems to have been well planned because photos and videos give a good view of the people acting together with the law-enforcement officers and provoking a crowd of the nationalists. The result of the massacre was a conscious killing of defenseless people against whom they used the Molotov cocktails. Those who tried to escape were hit with sticks and armature. All this is painfully familiar to the events that took place 70 years ago in Khatyn.

What we find especially disturbing in this situation is the policy of double standards pursued by the western countries which we have been observing all the time. The West does not see and, moreover, it does not want to see everything what has been going on in Maidan, in the south-east of Ukraine and in Odessa. The western politicians do not demand an independent and neutral investigation of all the crimes committed by fascists; instead, they rush to impose sanctions against Russia.

The Crimeans drew their own special conclusions from the events in Odessa: they fully realized once again the truth of their choice. I believe it is evident for everyone that if the Crimea were not part of Russia today, the events that would take place here might be many times more terrible. It might be a case of liquidation of all Russian population there: nationalists persistently made declarations that the Crimea would be either a Ukrainian or uninhabited territory.

I send my condolences to the relatives and family members of the people killed in Odessa. I’d like to assure you that we will never forget and forgive the deaths of the innocent people. We will do whatever we can to stop plague of fascism thriving in Ukrainian. Moreover, Russia has such experience.
